Le Gallois was an established restaurant business in Cardiff that had received critical acclaim for their cuisine. Owing to this success Le Gallois' patronage grew, which increased pressure on the available restaurant space and in particular the bar area.

 

Rio architects appraised the opportunities for extending the restaurant into an adjoining house recently acquired by the proprietors and to double the size of the existing kitchen space.  We worked very closely with our client to establish the restaurants priorities tempered by the need to remain within budget.

 

The success of the design not only relied upon the aesthetic qualities of the product, but also the effective function of a busy restaurant.  In tandem with the contractor, we proposed a phased programme of work that allowed the restaurant to continue working for the first 5 weeks of the work.
