Project Description :

Having designed Dakota’s prototype hotel on the outskirts of Nottingham, Rio were delighted to be part of the design team for Dakota's Award Winning second hotel at Maxim Park on the outskirts of Glasgow.

As the first, this hotel is essentially a large shiny black box prominently sitting on a minimalistic landscaped base. Nevertheless, the buildings sleek external aesthetic offers a stark contrast to the softer interior of the hotel which is reminiscent of a luxury Manhattan loft apartment with exposed brickwork, slatted wooden blinds, soft lighting, beautiful vases, sumptuous chaises and cushions in fabulous fabrics.

This 6 storey, steel framed, 92 bed hotel is visible for miles around and its dark, dramatic image is easily recognisable at night by its flashes of blue neon.

The ground floor comprises an open plan reception, lounge, a bar and brasserie, gymnasium and a number of meeting rooms. It also houses the kitchen and back of house facilities. The building’s parapet has been extended to hide roof top plant.
