Project Description :

We were commissioned to undertake a detailed feasibility study, brief creation and sustainability strategy for Network Rail in relation to their new 400,000 ft² National Centre at Milton Keynes. The work involved developing strategies for a flexible and adaptable building capable of being divided into quarters on a phased basis.

In addition, environmental schemes were developed and tested resulting in Network Rails’ green aspirations for the project being set. Our team also assessed each building design option in relation to BREEAM, LEED and IPD resulting in a detailed pre-assessment that predicted a BREEAM “excellent” score was achievable. The architectural and sustainability studies were carried out in tandem with wide ranging workplace and interior studies.

The chosen option for the new centre has been designed around a central street with four office buildings leading off from this area and is due for completion in 2012.
