Project Description :

Rio Architects were appointed by Wynndel to develop their master plan proposals following a limited Architectural Competition. The mixed use master plan for the development includes  private residential dwellings (47 houses and 88 flats), 34 affordable dwellings, 8 office units and a cafe.

The site in Chepstow is at an extremely important gateway to Wales and we have undertaken a visual impact assessment to understand the affect of the development on the town and in particular identify that the vista to the existing castle is maintained. The town’s historic conservation area and demands a design approach that addresses a responsible approach to a sustainable urban density while sensitively stitching this comprehensive redevelopment into the fabric of the existing historic town.

The Chepstow Waterfront development was granted planning permission in March 2010.
