Project Description :

This contemporary Animal Hospital for Carmarthenshire County Council was completed in February 2008.

Set in an agricultural landscape on the outskirts of Carmarthen, Rio took great care to see that a building of suitable scale and form was achieved. Every effort was made, within the constraints of the budget, to make the building both contextual and of the highest architectural merit.

The architectural language of the building deliberately borrows reference from its architectural setting. Form and materials are used in compositions that reflect barns and farm buildings typical of the Tywi valley. Render, corrugated metal and rough sawn timber employed in a restrained pallets of materials that echo the language of the surrounding landscape.

The 11,000 ft² veterinary centre contains consulting, pharmaceutical, clinical, kennel, administrational and residential facilities to provide the highest level of care for both small and large animals.
