Project Description :

The University of Glamorgan commissioned Rio in 2009 to develop a strategy for provision of 476 new student beds at their Treforest Campus. The project involves the demolition and replacement of the existing student accommodation and the integration of the accommodation blocks on a very challenging steeply sloping site in a sensitive environmental location.

Rio undertook a detailed masterplanning study of the campus in order to develop the preferred scheme which received support from the University Executive Board and the Planning Authority.

We also produced an extensive 3D study report of the bedrooms and communal rooms in order to create a product which befitted the Universities requirements. Large windows are a feature of the accommodation creating naturally lit spaces whilst affording views across the wonderful Cynon Valley.

The final phase of the project was completed in December 2011.
